Mary Jean Morrison, elected President of Volunteer Cowichan at the September 2020 AGM, brings experience with volunteer and non-profit organizations including the Canadian Red Cross and Cowichan United Way.  Mary Jean’s professional experience includes clinical nursing, government and executive roles in health care most recently as CEO of The United Church Health Services (UCHSS). Mary Jean led the transfer of UCHSS to Northern Health and Vancouver Coastal Health.

Ilka Bene

Ilka Bene loves living in the Cowichan Valley, where she has lived and worked for nearly 20 years.  She is currently semi-retired from a lifetime career in leadership and in Human Resources in the private and public sectors. She holds her CPHR (Chartered Professional in HR).  In 2017, she was named HR Professional of the Year by CPHR BC/Yukon, an honour of which she strives to be worthy every day.

 

Volunteerism is one of her core values – sharing her time and expertise with a wide range of organizations is an enriching experience and is fundamental to building community.
