General FAQs

Our Better at Home program is for seniors aged 65 and older.

We have a subsidized program through Better at Home. Contact our office to find out if you qualify.

Our Courtesy Rides currently cover rides to and from any health and/or wellness appointments.

Our Courtesy Ride program only offers rides to designated health & wellness facilities. We do not currently offer transportation to any other locations e.g. grocery, pharmacy, family members, shopping centre, etc.

For insurance and liability consideration, our volunteers are unable to assist with these types of activities at this time.

We are hoping to develop this service, but it’s not ready yet.

Volunteering FAQs

Decisions, decisions! Before you search our database, ask yourself, “Why do I want to volunteer? What am I passionate about? What am I good at? What do I want to get out of it? How much time and when can I commit?

We connect with a large number of non-profit organizations and charities, each with their own intake process that lets you get comfortable with each other. Most require completion of an application form, references, an interview, orientation, and training. Some ask for a Criminal Record Check.

Organizations can request access to create their own user profile at Volunteer Now, Cowichan.  Hit the drop down square in the top right corner and select “Register as an Organization”.  Once approved, organizations will have the opportunity to create and promote an unlimited number of volunteer positions on the database.

*Eligible groups should be non-profits or registered charities and operate within the Cowichan Valley Regional District.

Thanks for bringing your family and friends! You can search our database for group opportunities by pressing the “More Search Options” button.
