Cowichan Valley Music Teachers Association

ORGANIZATION NAME:
Cowichan Valley Music Teachers Association
OUR MISSION:

The Cowichan Music Teachers Association was formed over 30 years ago to promote music education in the Cowichan Valley and surrounding areas, and to provide a way for independent music teachers to work together on projects, professional development and special activities like festivals for our students.

In the past 10 years we’ve provided scholarships, bursaries and awards for many many deserving students, presented a multi year History of Music Project, and held events like the Melody Marathon, and our Chocolate and Wine music night held every 2nd year in February.

Pianofest is held annually and provides a chance for all students of member teachers to play for an adjudicator and share in the learning with their fellow performers. It is held about the first weekend of May each year.

We have member teachers from Saltair and Ladysmith, through to Chemainus, Lake Cowichan, Maple Bay, Duncan, Cowichan Bay, Cobble Hill, Mill Bay and Shawnigan Lake, teaching all manner of instruments, theory and voice.
